About Me
My name is Amy Stickler. I'm a native of a very small town in south-central Pennsylvania. I like to tell people that I spent my first 18 years surrounded by the Amish and chocolate (Lancaster and Hershey). I have been in Hickory since 2004, and I feel very fortunate to call western North Carolina my "home away from home."
While I was working on my academic degrees, I had a lot of incredible opportunities. I completed internships in pastoral ministries and youth ministries. I took a semester of masters-level counseling classes. I traveled throughout Israel, Egypt, Turkey, and Greece, visiting the holy places of Christians, Jews, and Muslims. I spent a summer working in central Jordan on an archaeological dig.
I completed my seminary training in the spring of 2012, and went to work for Safe Harbor Rescue Mission, serving women who were recovering from a variety of addictions. I left that position and joined the faculty of University Christian in January 2015. When I'm not at UCHS, I'm serving on staff at Corinth Reformed Church. I am also working toward becoming an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ.
