Guidelines for Formal Writing...
All formal writing assignments (papers, article summaries, etc.) are to be written using the MLA style.
You will not need to use some elements of MLA style, including section headings.
You will need to use 1" margins, 12-point Times New Roman font, headers, and properly cited sources.

Guidelines for Informal Writing...
Informal writing assignments, such as journals and in-class assignments, do not need to be written in any particular format. They do, however, need to be written using complete sentences and paragraphs, where appropriate. Slang and abbreviations are not appropriate even in informal writing.
